Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a material belonging to the group of fluorothermoplastics.

The main properties of PTFE are:

  • very low friction coefficient
  • very high ductility
  • very good chemical resistance
  • resistance to fire
  • high thermal stability.

The material, due to its very low friction coefficient, is used, among others, as a material:

  • sliding bearings
  • sliding elements
  • sealants

PTFE, due to its very low abrasion resistance, is used not only in pure form, but also in the form of modifications with carbon fibre, bronze or graphite and carbon. As a material with one of the lowest friction coefficients among plastics, it is used as an additive to other polymeric materials to improve the sliding properties of the materials.

Plastics are available in the form of plates, rods, tubes, profiles and finished products as shown.
