Screws with internal cooling circuit have been designed by PMI especially for high speed and heavy duty applications.
Inside the screw, a pipe is placed through a hollow hole, which pumps the cooling fluid under pressure. This coolant is then discharged outside to the coolant collector. In it, the temperature of the coolant is lowered and it is pumped back into the pipe. The system can also be equipped with nuts with cooling system. The internal cooling circuit dissipates the heat generated by friction between balls and screw’s grooves during dynamic operation.
Tests carried out by PMI have shown that the screws with the cooling system are more resistant to thermal deformations and thus provide greater positioning accuracy, so they are recommended for the most precise machine tools.
Screws with internal cooling circuit are made to order and are available for each ball screw series.
