The Bonfiglioli’s electromagnetic coupling with a brake is a compact device enclosed in a support with IP54 protection. In the aluminium casing there are bearing-mounted shafts connected by an electromagnetic coupling. When at rest, the shafts can rotate freely. After the coupling circuit is supplied with 24VDC, the shafts are coupled. The output shaft is equipped with an electromagnetic brake. When the brake circuit is supplied with 24 VDC, the output shaft is braked. Both circuits can be controlled independently. Different combinations of solid and hollow shafts are available for input and output.

The most common application is the clock operation of drive systems using common induction motors adapted to S1 operation mode.  In this case, the motor runs continuously while the output shaft of the NFF device can be stopped and recoupled in less than 1 second.

The NFF device is equipped with an automatic system of friction lining wear’s correction, which means that it does not need to be inspected frequently and is reusable throughout its lifetime.

An ACS 01 controller is dedicated to the NFF device, which enables stable voltage supply and provides an interface for connecting sensors and control devices.
